Experience Japanese ‘Ba’ (10 places)
The Japanese concept of Ba is the context shared by those interacting with each other.
In this workshop we learn to become aware of the ‘Ba’ through the process of creating and being together. In societies that become increasingly polarized, ice breakers help to connect again and to create a safe ground to show our emotions. We are related to each other as well as to our history and culture.
We communicate with other people through words and by using body language, tone of voice we communicate as well how we feel as well. If we are conscious of the Ba we can create nice places to be together.
In this gathering Emiko Tsuyuki (professor of sociology), Chikako Watanabe (artist), Bob Kos (fisherman, fisher of men and historian) and Renate Schepen (philosopher) come together to share their work and invite you to learn about and experience the concept of Ba through the process of netting fishnets together in the community of Egmond aan Zee.
